Jeremy Leslie’s new book The Modern magazine was published yesterday (September 23rd).
With 750 captioned illustrations, five essays by Leslie and interviews with ten key creative figures, the book offers an overview of contemporary editorial design ranging from small independents to major mainstream titles. Coming at a time when the industry is facing a storm of challenges, Leslie emphasises the necessity of a shared vision between content and design, and argues those very challenges have encouraged a new, open creativity leading to a golden age for magazines.
