Head of Behance Design at Adobe
Born and raised in Barcelona, Matias graduated
in Graphic Design from La Massana Art School.
In his early years, he was very influenced by the omnipresence of electronic music in Barcelona. Working for multiple DJs and clubs, Matias found a canvas to explore the boundaries of graphic design and expression. This is where he developed an awareness
of the crucial importance of the communication aspect
of design. His studio space at this time was in his father’s architecture studio, where he found a love for architecture which strongly influenced him and brought an inherent order to his design work.
Matias' American career began with AR Media, working under the guidance of Michael Ian Kaye. He instilled
in Matias a respect for design and typography as art forms. Ten years later, he continues to work on print design, but now focuses on interaction design. As head of Behance design at Adobe and a co-founder of Behance, Matias has led the brand identity and design of all Behance products – including the Behance Network, ProSite, The 99U Conference & Magazine,
and Action Method, amongst others.
Matias' work has earned a Type Director’s Award and several Webby nominations and honoree awards, as well as the distinction of being named finalist at the SXSW Interactive Awards for two years running.
